the reception sucks! need advice...
so once again, im back,hahah
i know i keep asking this question, what do i have to do to get my coneection better?
i have a q 9c and by my house the reception is horrible. THe funny thing is, my dad has nextel, and he gets great service! i have no idea why?
should i contact sprint and see if they can send someone out to find the problem or do i have to update something? (prl, vision?)
please help, its getting irritating!

because sprint phones and nextel phones use different networks even though they are part of the same big company. for a real comparison you would need another sprint phone.

The Sprint and Nextel networks are two separate networks, there can be differences in coverage. From Sprint's front page of their website, there is a link for looking at coverage. I would check there to see what their expected coverage should be. After that, you may have an idea of where to go from their. Good luck.

best thing you can do is update your vision profile, or shell out some $$ and get a repeater for the house.
Had this same problem at my last house. I had one decent spot...left couch cushion.

The coverage maps are strictly estimations, and no carrier can guarantee coverage everywhere. This is extremely high frequency radio, and things like power lines, trees, or even siding on a neighbor's house can affect it. A different carrier might give you better coverage. That's why you get a 30 day trial period. If you don't have coverage, switch carriers.
Sprint won't 'send someone out' to fix things. There's nothing to fix short of adding another tower, and that's not happening. Nextel is a separate network that uses a lower frequency than Sprint PCS. It tends to penetrate obstructions better.
If you have broadband, you could get a Sprint Airave. It's your own little cell tower for inside your house. My coverage in the house went in the dumper after we put steel siding on our house. I added an Airave box, and I now have perfect coverage everywhere in the house and yard. It will cost you $100 to buy + $5 month.
