Sprint - Windows 6 Upgrade: Bleak????

    Dear Shaun,
Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding all your concerns.
Currently, the Moto Q does not have wireless backup feature. This phone works on Windows Mobile OS 5.0 with AKU 2.4 and is not upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.
Further, this phone does not support Sprint Picture Mail and Sprint Video Mail.
Thank you for contacting us. Have a great day.

Does the Moto Q have the wireless backup feature? Also will he Q be getting a upgrade to Windows Mobile 6? If so will this correct the problem with sending regular Picturemail?

The email does not say it is a WM5 issue.

I think its more of a Sprint not fully using the device capabilities issue. Serioulsy thinking of switching to the PPC-6800 when its released.

Just remember, you can talk to five different reps and get five different answers. I just talked to one rep about my 700p and he's saying he has experience with the phone and hasn't had any problems with it when the glaring problems are known and admitted by Palm. One reason why I'm contemplating the Q. The other tempting reason to switch is the upgrade to WM6, and others around here have said it would be coming out for the Q on Sprint and Verizon. Who knows.

its not WM5 its sprint not having MMS capability with their Q. As for the reps, they wouldnt know if they were going to release an upgrade or not. until a decision is made they are as in the dark as we are and have to use their pre-programmed responses.

The Sprint reps most of the time don't know crap. I know more about certain phones I don't even own then they do. This is a waiting game because I'm sure they have not made a final decision on the upgrade to WM6. For them to say the phone is not compatible to upgrade to WM6 is complete BS. I don't get why it is so hard for these companies to have a dedicated team to work on making these phones better since it is up to the provider to edit the software. They only have a few handfuls of phones to support.

They want the speculation, its that simple. Plus it would cost them more money to train a new team or a certain group than to email out pre-made responses.

Because they really don't care about supporting the current stuff. They care about what's next that will make them more money. What new features they can add that they can bill for. Same reason why they don't give a rat's ass that the 700P has the same hardware as the 700w/x and it's not the most compatible with the Palm OS so it has glaring problems, but they sit and drag their feet in trying to fix it to give the people who dropped $600 (supposedly) on a phone something that actually works as it is supposed to. Instead, they're probably devoting their time to testing the 755p to see how well it works so they can appeal to all new customers that don't want to carry a phone the size of the 700, but will carry the next sized down. That means all new customers with all new lines and more money.

Motorola is a ton better than Palm in updating and supporting their products, but ultimately it comes down to the carrier wanting to implement it.

So all in all it's cheaper and more profitable to offer something new than actually fix the old.

    That's my layman's opinion.
