    Just set-up a New Contact:

    Name: Field Test
    Phone Number: ##33284#

Anytime you turn your phone off, do a re-boot or anything like that, call this contact and turn:

    B: Field Test Menu
    G: DDTM: OFF

This resets on any reboot, shutdown etc. So this is the best fix at the moment...Pull up your Field Test contact and flip it off real quick...

And for the 1x folks, your are going to have the VM issue with ANY phone out there on ANY carrier, like said previously this isn't a Motorola / Sprint thing, this is a Cell Phone thing...

But at least for EVDO, here in Chi-Town, I'm all set!

When I turn DDTM off, I DON'T get calls. But when I leave it on, I DO get calls. Why is that?

    Howdy,
Got my Sprint Q about 3 weeks ago. Reading this I decided to test it.

I went to a streaming music site, clicked a link and I'm listening to a live feed of a sports radio show.

with the stream playing in Windows Media player, I called myself froma land line. It took what seemed like an abnormally large number of rings on the landline end, but it *did* eventually interrupt the audio and ring on the Q. First try, probably about 6 rings.

I wonder if it takes extra time for the CDMA chipset to discern call data from IP data and then in the wait, the sprint voicemail kicks in because the number of rings was exceeded?

A test for those with this problem would be to disable voicemail or alter the settings through the voicemail system to pickup after a larger number of rings. Not sure if this is possible but since mine does punch through a data session, I can't test it.

Does this sound like a possibility???

I believe EVDO and voice data are on the same transmitter/reciever system/path, with EVDO taking advantage of unused (walsh code) channels between the mobile station and base station. There is more to it than that, but my point is that the data is flowing over the same "lines" as the voice.

I just purchased my Q a week ago and with Mundu running and four different IM protocols running I can receive calls just fine. I even tried changing the field test value and still received calls. *shrug*

Maybe the fixed it in new versions of the firmware?

It would be cool if there was some neato web database where you could log problems with a product, submitting s/w versions and manufacturer lot #s and such. maybe you could see trends with issues like this.

Not sure what mundu is. Maybe I'll load it and try to recieve a call while using it.

Mundu is an IM client that can handle ICQ, AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, Google Talk and Jabber. It's like IM+, but less expensive and, from what I can tell, better.

hmmm... I think the problem was more when data was streaming to the phone, presumably in EVDO mode, voice calls wouldn't come through. I would think that IM would be a bit more intermittent in the way it uses the network to transport data.

Try a continuous download like Orb or from a streaming music/radio site like www.thestreamcenter.com. go to www.thestreamcenter.com on your Q, find a stream you want to listen to, click on the link for the stream. After a few seconds, windows media should start up and play your stream. Once this is going, make a call to your phone.

I was redirected here from the US Cellular Thread, and the fix provided for Sprint users isn't applicable for me.
