I've tried it several times and what I found interesting was I got the calls when signal (reception bar) was strong and none when the signals are bad. Maybe it has something to do with the reception?
This is a discussion on Cannot receive calls while using EVDO within the Sprint forums, part of the Wireless Carriers category; I've tried it several times and what I found interesting was I got the calls when signal (reception bar) was ...

oookay,
rant on
I find it unbelievable that Sprint doesn't seem to know this is a problem. Umm, aren't there Sprint programmers/testers/executives/employees who are walking around Sprint HQ in Kansas, using their Q's?? The area is no doubt super EVDO covered, so doesn't anyone say "gee, my calls are going to voicemail, while using EVDO data, I think I'll report it." Seriously. I sometimes am taken aback with the disconnect between customers and peope who helped bring technology to market. We all experience the same hardware/software issues, and it's frustrating that customers have be the ones who get the ball rolling on solutions; the people who signed off on the darn phones never seem to have issues (and if they do, we don't hear about it and a fix takes months after months!).
I just don't understand why Sprint continues to release EVDO devices that don't allow a phone call to interrupt a data session. How do these things make it through the final "let's go to production" meetings when they know customers will immediately realize it's broken?
/rant off. It just blows my mind...
This seems to be the biggest setback with sprint Q. I am going to try the code hopefully it will do the trick.(thanks to whoever posted it.)

You make alot of valid points, but if we relied on the phone companies to clear all major bugs before releasing a phone, we'd all still be using 'cell phones' that come with a giant bag attached to them. Not receiving calls while using the EVDO is a major concern and let's hope they can fix it. But it seems like the companies are just happy if the phone completes a phone call..... 'good to go, start producing'.
Can't sleep, clowns will eat me.
Oooooh, the secret Sprint menu. Nice to know there is a fix out there should the problem arise. I searhed the registry, but I see no mention of a ddtm...

Does anyone know if there is a fix like this for regular, non wm5 powervision phones/regular sprint phones? All powervision phones suffer this defect.

Umm, guys, this is a MOTOROLA Q, not a SPRINT Q. Motorola is the company that should've done the quality assurance and compability testing. And the problem also occurs on the Verizon version of the Q.
Actually the problem doesn't occur on the VZW version. I've owned both, and it's turned off by default on the VZW. Sprint customizes the OS after they get the phone from Moto. They can make requests to have software included (like On Demand) or removed, and changes made to the OS. For some reason unknown, Sprint has the DDTM turned on by default instead of off. It is a Sprint issue.
Device: Motorola Q (Sprint)
Accessories: Burgundy Jabra JX10, 2GB Sandisk miniSD, Leadtek 9537 BT GPS

Has anyone tested to see if this is still aproblem after installing the sprint update?
