Will a Q Keep me Organized?
I want to buy a Smartphone to keep myself sane during my days at work. I don't to really do emails or web but I will get the 10mb data plan. What I want to do is be able to write "Call Amy Grant" and schedule it for say Oct 17th at 10am. Then like an hour before that the Q beeps "Hey retard, you have something to do!" And then I look and WHAM, I know to call Amy Grant.
This should be pretty easy for the Q and a good match for me yes?
Thanks for any input,
Ryan

Offhand I'd say if that's all you want to do the Q is overkill. You can schedule stuff easily with just about any newer cellphone (my 2 year old Moto v710 does it) and have it alert you at whatever time you set. Save your money!

I agree. Not necessarily that the Q itself is overkill, but the data plan is. If you're not going to use email or internet then you might as well just plug in your Q to sync with your calendar and other info. The only time you really need the internet connection is if you need access to your email all the time or need constant sync between contacts, tasks, and your calendar.

Hey thanks for the replies! I agree that the Q is probably overkill but right now I refuse to type/write with a normal phone keypad. It is just too much of a hassle to be worth my while. The internet I just figured would be fine to mess around on...if I really don't use it I'll drop it. I know a guy who picked up a Treo and said he can't stay off the net now...so we'll see.

Yeah, just be careful. Below is a link about some people who found that being connected to the internet all the time isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Have got to disagree - I bought the Q for the very same reason and don't use the Internet or Email at all. I have Yahoo notify me by txt msg when I have an email ( so if I expecting one, I can make arraingments to get it) or just look at it at the end of the day. The internet just KEEPS me from working. The rest is a gass. I love my Q ( it even shuts down during meetings). This is not overkill - it's expansion waiting to happen. I bought it with the unlimited data plan (for the price) and changed the plan two days later dropped data, and went back to about the same Plan I had before Q. It will make your day much more organized.

Excellent I'm glad to hear it has helped you with the same thing I'm looking for. I think next week I'll make the purchase. I'm going to think more about the data plan.

Lol, it is pretty crazy though. If i got more than 10 new e-mails a day, i would probably have problems.

The real beauty of the smartphone is if you already use outlook to keep yourself organized, then syncing the data back and forth to the phone let's you take it with you and never miss an appointment.
Of course I think a Razr with motorola phone tools will do that too but it's much more clunky.
