if I use bluetooth, will I have to do one contact at a time? I have about 300 contacts in the KRZR. thanks
Not that I know of. ActiveSync only works with Windows Mobile phones (for the most part -- I've heard Microsoft has licensed it to a few other companies).
You could try DataPilot, however.

Have you tried using MPT (Mobile Phone Tools) by BVRP to get your contacts from the KRZR to your computer, then you can just use active sync to get them to your Q.
You should be able to use the same data cable that came with the Q to hook up your KRZR.
Also, how did it mess up your names?
I used a program called Bit Pim to pull allthe contacts, pictures, and ring tones off of my old LG phone.
After you pull the contacts off of you KRAZR you have to export them into a .CSV file thn import that into Outlook. Also make sure there are no contacts saved on your Q or else you will end up with duplicates.
I can't remember the download link but a simple google search will take it to you pretty quick.
In MPT, you have an option to SYNC with outlook... this will dump all your contacts and calendar entries into Outlook and then you can use ActiveSync to go to the Q. As always, BACKUP your Outlook calendar and Contacts to a .PST file BEFORE trying any synce/xfer for the first time, until you know it will now hose anything up.
To transfer the files from your KRZR to your Q, you would want to use Motorola Phone Tools, available on Motorola's web site. Like its generic counterpart, Mobile Phone Tools, it is also a BVRP/Avanquest product, but it is designed to work with Motorola phones, where Mobile Phone Tools is not. You will also need the full version of MicroSoft Office Outlook installed on your PC, as that is the only conduit that Microsoft's ActiveSync recognizes. The free Outlook Express that comes with Windows cannot be used with ActiveSync.
When you first download and install Motorola Phone Tools, it will be at version 4.03 or 4.04. Once installed, you will need to update it to version 4.51c for your KRZR phone to be recognized. The current, up to date version of Motorola Phone Tools is 4.56. You update MPT by going to Start\Programs\Motorola Phone Tools and then running Motorola Live Update. You will need to do this several times, as Phone Tools updates in stages. Download the update and then install, repeating this process until you get a message that Phone Tools is up to date. Before you proceed, Outlook should be set as your default mail client. This can be set in Internet Explorer properties, under Tool\Internet Options.
Now, open Motorola Phone Tools. It will ask you to select a profile, and display Default. If you have another Motorola phone in the house, you may want to select New and give the profile a name, like Coyote's KRZR. Phone Tools will prompt you for a connection type (I recommend USB) and then ask you to connect your phone. Once your phone is successfully connected, you will see an image on the right side of your screen that should look like your KRZR, with a side bar of applet choices, one of which will be your address book. From here, you can use that to sync your phone's contacts with MS Outlook.
BTW, if contacts were transferred from your old phone to the Q by your phone store, and they messed up the transfer, I would recommend performing a Master Reset on your Q to clear all those contacts out, otherwise, when you then connect to ActiveSync, whatever remains will get synced to MS Outlook.
With your contacts now all in Outlook, you can install MS ActiveSync. For this, I recommend that you download the latest version, 4.5, from MicroSoft's web site. Once installed, you can open it and you will be prompted to connect your Q. A synchronization wizard should come up in short order, asking you what you want to sync. One important note. On the second page of the sync wizard, a box may be checked, stating that you want to sync directly with a Microsoft Exchange server. Make sure that you UNCHECK this box! If you leave the box checked, you will only be logged into ActiveSync as a Guest, and will be unable to sync your contacts from Outlook.
One other important note. You didn't mention who your carrier is. If it is Verizon, this note applies. On Verizon Q's, there is an application called Verizon Wireless Sync. It is a customized version of an IntelliSync product, and it does not play in the sandbox really well with Microsoft's synchronization client, ActiveSync. Personally, I recommend using only one of these, and my preference would be ActiveSync. If, per chance, you have opened and set up VZW Wireless Sync, you will need to allow ActiveSync to work from within the Wireless Sync client, or alternatively, will have to Master Reset your Q to get rid of Wireless Sync's install.
I hope that this information helps you out. Enjoy your Q.
