    Great Sync Program

My laptop hard drive recently gave me the finger & then died. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how to back up my calendar/life. I found that Yahoo Go does a great job with the contacts, but didn't offer a way to sync the Outlook calendar. And with the rate that I update my calendar to schedule life, I need to sync often. Then I found OGGSYNC. It rocks...choose the freeware version (of course). You can sync your Q Outlook with your Gmail calendar. It may support other email systems, but you have to have Gmail ... sign up for it ... it's free. So, everything is all backed up... until I settle on a new laptop ... if I do. (I have a secure server at work, that doesn't allow us to sync our smartphones or pdas. With a little export / inport, my Q is also synced with my work Outlook calendar.)

bummer about the PC and HDD...but glad you managed to salvage your Q info back to your PC!

now all you need to do is backup your PC often (after you get it all back and running again)

tried both OggSync and the other one (can't think of the name now) and yes, it does work great.

(oh, the other one is called GooSync)
    much later.. maybe.

What version of outlook are you running, 2003 and up support calendars in a standard (ical) format. You can use a tool like outport to get your calendar data out of the outlook pst and into an ical then tell outlook to open the ical. Then use a tool like gcaldaemon to sync the ical with google calendar.
I'm doing this now to sync between my calendar and google calendar and then oggsync to sync my phone with google calendar over wifi. This way I have two full copies of my calendar, one on google and one on my laptop (and a third on an external drive I dump copies to occasionally).
