can I record lectures?
I just got my Q. I used to use my husbands big, clunky Verizon IPac pocket PC. I am wondering about the voice notes feature. I am trying to record lectures but it is hit and miss.
When I am lucky enough to get it to work, i can not save it. There are 2 soft options on my screen Record and Menu. I want to record a lecture, name it and when I get home or to my laptop, transfer it so I can send to classmates or save to study later.
I think I am hitting the wrong button (i use the scroll wheel) because the screen goes dark after 10 seconds- a battery saving feature I have turned on, when the screen comes on, it flashes the recording screen then it disappears and my recording is lost. Perhaps it is not ment to record 50 minute long recordings? The VW sales reps told me it would record but perhaps they were just saying that to appease me?
*Is there a better way to wake up the screen so I can stop the recording?
*Is there a way to save the voice note to my mini sd card?
*Where is the microphone so I can set it closest to the instructor? I thought it was the below the messaging button.
I have searched the forums, user guide and motorola/support/q so if I have missed a posting, please direct me towards the answer!
Thanks very much,
L

It seems like any switching from the Voice Notes program stops recording, so make sure the Time out setting in the Home Screen settings applet is set to Never.
If you have your device set to lock after a certain time, you may want to change that in the Security settings applet, too.
You could also set the Power Management settings to never turn the display or backlight off, but that would waste power. The best thing to do is just remember that the left softkey is Stop and press that to stop recording even if the screen is dark. Pressing Stop will also turn the backlight and display back on.

There's no direct way that I've found, but you might be able to do the registry hack to move the My Documents folder to the memory card.

That's where I think it is, too.
