Bicycle generator to phone charger plans?

I would like to charge my phone with my bicycle generator. 6vac to 5vdc. I think a wheatstone bridge to a 5 volt regulator might work but don't really know. Too much voltage drop over the bridge?

It runs a 3 watt headlight so if I remember my math right that would be .5 amps.

I should have put this in the hacks forum. Could it really be as simple as 4 diodes and a voltage regulator?

Car chargers are dc to dc. One chip that pulses the 12v to bring it down to 5v. I need ac to dc.
