Default Sending MMS messages without the internet plan...possible?

I have alltel and I would love to get a Q, but there is one big drawback for me. I'm on a plan that has 5 lines, with no smart phones on the plan. If I were to get a Q with all of the features enabled, I would have to buy a smart phone plan with the smart phone internet charging me 40$ monthly...on top of that I would either have to get my own plan, missing the benifits of having 5 people pay the same bill, or I would have to make all 5 people change their plans because for some reason you can't have just one person using the smart phone plan in a shared plan. According to my alltel rep, the only way past this would be to disable internet on my Q, but since the Q uses the internet to recieve MMS (pictures, videos, sounds) I wouldn't be able to send or recieve any multimedia messages. This doesn't make any sense to me, because if I use a phone other than a smart phone, I can get internet with my unlimited text package for 5$ extra, this includes MMS messages. So basically alltel is making 35$ at my expense with the smart phone. I've heard this is because the smart phone internet is a ton faster and doesn't use minutes. Now I'm torn between using all the features of the Q, minus the MMS, or sticking with an average phone and keeping the MMS (which I would use frequently). Is there any kind of a hack that would make the Q's internet operate like a regular phone's internet? Or at least make my network recognize the phone as a regular phone? Even if I had to downgrade the browser, I don't use internet much anyway...just MMS. Would that even work? Is there ANY way around this?? Please help!
