Default Power Management Hack

Didn't see this on here. I have done it and I'm testing it now.

You could navigate to each parameter, but I chose to do a search on DisablePowerManagement. We'll let you know how this goes.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:1
Change to
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:1
Change to
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:1
Change to
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:1
Change to
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0

Default Battery Life?

Maybe it's like some WiFi cards that have "power management". However, have you actually confirmed longer battery life with the changes?

Also remember that there are registry keys in there that have no effect. For example, I've seen references to WiFi, but the Q doesn't have WiFi. Those are for devices that actually do have WiFi, but nobody bothered to remove the keys.

It didn't shed any for me. It basically said it turned power management on for some communications protocols (which I think we knew) and told how to apply the hack (which we all probably knew).

I thought that the most interesting part of the linked article was the user comments, where four people (each with different devices) said it had no effect. That's contrary to the wonderful line at the end of the article:

[...] start using your Windows Mobile portable device to feel the significant power save which enhance the battery life longer.
