    OH MY GAWD GUYS

For petes sake update your damn firmware, in the new firmware you can select windows media to be fullscreen or not.... no need to hack jeez visit motorolas site, they fixed this problem because of all the complaints

hahahah, ya i just updated mine like a week ago and you get the option of fullscreen

oh and if your playing videos on the Q, ya Windows media SUCKS !!!!!!!! I thought about returning my Q because playback was soooo choppy, then through tons of other forums i found out about TCPMP

TCPMP is a video player like windows media, but will play the videos so smoothly and has tons of options... to get it to work you need to download these files

    http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/

    download (for the Q)
    tcpmp.smartphone.0.72RC1.exe

then youll need audio codecs, i found that the version .66 ones worked and can be found here

    http://www.rarewares.org/aac.html

    download the
BetaPlayer AAC plugin 2005-08-02 AAC input plugin based on FAAD2 for BetaPlayer/The Core Pocket Media Player tested to work on version 0.66
PalmOS version (136Kb) - Windows Mobile version (1092Kb)

youll want windows version of course

    now onto my next item

I cant get the damn email thing to work either to save emails on my storage card

i went into the registry and went to the spot i was told and hit NEW, then KEY

so for the keys title or whatever i entered this exactly even the quotes the spaces the equal sign, everything

    "AttachPath" (Value)= \Storage Card\MAPI\Attachments

    &

    "PropertyPath" (Value)= \Storage Card\MAPI

and still no workie, all the stuff is being saved in the windows folder (messages)

    am i entering wrong

AHA I FINALLY GOT THE EMAIL ON THE STORAGE CARD WORKING CORRECTLY

first off the location to make the new string is correct as in his directions
    [ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MAPI ]
But heres the important part, YOU DONT MAKE NEW KEYS, YOU MAKE A NEW STRING!!!!, now the first string you make please title the exact way i have it here
    AttachPath
    &
    PropertyPath
Now like i said those are strings you make not keys, and theres no quotes or equal symbols, now each strings value is where you put the link, and again you dont use the equals signs, so AttachPaths value is
    \Storage Card\MAPI\Attachments
Now note on my card instead of making the directory MAPI, i made one called Email with a folder inside that called Attachements so the AttachPath string value for me is
    \Storage Card\Email\Attachments

and my PropertyPath string value is
    \Storage Card\Email

there now its all done, strings not keys, and what he had in quotes was the string title/name and what he had following the = is the actual value, you dont enter the quotes or the equals sign!!!!
now move your emails to the card, delete them from your \windows\messaging folders and tada your good to go... reboot just to be safe

how do you work the program? i couldn't save my settings and and would not apply my changes either.
are you with telus or with verizon?

telus seem to lock their phone more than verizon. you should edit that registry first :

    Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies:
Change the DWORD named "1001" to 1 (originally be 2)
Change the DWORD named "1005" to 40 (originally be 16)

youll need resco or phm edit. I prefer to use total commander and it works very good.you can download total commander here in the freeware section.good luck

    Hide labels in Start Menu

While messing around in the registry I found this "hack/mod". Dunno if anyone else is interested, but here it is.

    Go to \HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Controls\StartMenu

    Change hide_labels value from 0 to 1

The end result will be this:

No labels under the icons, but name of highlighted icon appears on Title Bar. Different, but I like it.

Word of warning, this will cause the Start Menu to appear in some Task Managers (QTask, CeleTask) as the highlighted icon label, so you may not want to try to kill it.

    Sort your start menu alphabetically

I just posted this to the Hacks Wiki, but i figured i would post it here as well, since not everyone looks at the Wiki.

This hack will sort the Start Menu on your phone

    1. Start up your Registry Editor program. Resco is one of a few programs that will allow you to edit your Registry.

    2. Find the following: \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shell\StartM enu

    3. Open the item called Order

    4. Currently, it probably has entries for the first 15 items in your start menu.

    5. I delete everything with the exception of Active Sync.lnk.
The reason that I leave Active Sync.lnk in the list is because the phone doesn't like the list to be empty, and since Active Sync.lnk is the first alphabetically, I leave that one there. If you would prefer to have something else listed first, even though it will not be alphabetical, go ahead and use that one instead. One thing about this, Folder items like Accessories, Bluetooth, Games, and System Tools, will be sorted alphabetically at the bottom of the list.

I hope this helps some of you. I know it used to drive me nuts not having my Start menu sorted Alphabetically.

There is no copy/paste functionality built into the Smartphone O/S. You would need a utility as mentioned above.

Once it's on the phone, use the File Explorer to browse to its location, and then Run or Execute it. It should then install and give you a PHM icon under the Start Menu..
