There are 2 types of locks: keyboard lock & device lock. Keyoard lock does just that: locks keyboard. No button can be pressed. To do this quicklyn press "home" key followed by "space" bar key. To unlock, hit "unlock" (which will now be on left softkey) & then "*" button.

Sorry, can't edit from Q. For device lock, you will need to set up password. This is good in case phone is lost or stolen...not failproof, but a deterrent. Another thread shows that while phone is in "device lock" mode, it can still be "powered down" and the volume scroll wheel will not be locked. If you need directions getting a password, let me/us know. This site is bettered monitored than the community I live in...someone is always here! Good luck!

Device lock can be set to do it automatically. Go to Start/Settings/Security...you will find choices there. My daughter is on PC so I'm on phone...sorry I can't be more help. If you don't see it, let me know & I'll get on the PC...

What we need to do is figure out how to combine device lock's password with the keylock's ability to lock keys. You would think since you set a password device lock is activated the same as keypad lock that it would work the same.

Not sure if you can. Might be some 3rd party software to do it.

Problem w/ that is there will be no security if phone is lost or stolen... With keylock, phone prompts: "to unlock, press unlock and *"...Device lock needs password.
