Flash Your VZW Q9c/m From WM 6.0 TO WM 6.1
=============================
I wrote this Tutorial back in the day when I was a super moderator
on another forum. I had over ten thousand hits when I last looked
including loads of folks at EQ and many other forums.
Download the files you need from my server and read and re read the
Tutorial several times before starting so you are thoroughly familiar
and can just sail through it. If you have any problems or further
questions, just txt me at 7173938551 and I'll get right back to you.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
First let me say that this IS a lot easier than it may look.
If you follow the following tutorial implicitly, I can assure
you that you will have NO PROBLEMS.
Before you do anything else, you will need to download the following three
files and un-zip them and install the first two to your PC or laptop. The
unzipped VZW WM 6.1 ROM must be in a directory that you can easily access.
Download these:
A.) One or the other 32 bit or 64 bit USB Motorola drivers to recognize your phone's connection.
32 bit
http://www.mediafire.com/file/yjmnztzyiaz/Handset_USB_Driver_32_v3.5.0.msi
64 bit
http://www.mediafire.com/file/z2vylutymn4/Handset_USB_Driver_x64_v3.5.0.msi
B.) The actual RSD Lite Motorola "flashing" application: RSD Lite (+ patch update)
http://www.mediafire.com/file/bmzglh...SDLite_4.2.msi
http://www.mediafire.com/file/wkwyzmmu2ml/Patch.zip
{After you install RSD Lite, unzip the patch and follow the directions included.}
C.) The VZW WM 6.1 ROM
http://www.mediafire.com/file/xjcwiamnrdy/VRZ_P3_NN_C_07.7A.00I_01.05.00R_MONSTER_01.sbf
Now that you have your primary "prep" work done, continue on
with each of the following steps in exactly the order as listed.
1) Backup all the info you want to save from your phone
2) Do a master reset. Your Q is now factory/VZW reset.
3) USE A Fully Charged BATTERY even though your phone will be connected
to your PC or Laptop via USB cable. Your USB cable MUST be plugged directly
into your PC/Laptop - NOT A HUB.
4) Remove your phone from the partnership list in Active Sync or WMDC. (Vista)
5) install the RSD Lite if you haven't already and have the VZW WM 6.1 ROM
unzipped (If not) and in a readily accessible directory.
6) Now, reboot your PC/laptop - do not yet connect your phone.
7) NOW connect your phone.
8) ignore Active Sync/WMDC as it will try to establish a new partnership.
9) Start RSD Lite and let it find your phone.
10) In RSD Lite use the browse button to take you to the UNZIPPED VZW WM 6.1 file.
11) Click the "start" button to initialize the flash upgrade. Follow any prompts that
you might get BUT you shouldn't get any at all if you have done everything as above.
Just let the phone boot/reboot by itself - it should. Be patient and let it do its thing.
DON'T JUMP THE GUN !!!!! ENJOY VZW WM 6.1 !!!!!!!!!
NOTE:
This will work flawlessly on a Windows XP PC/laptop.
There have been may problems with VISTA.
You can use this process on a Q9c OR a Q9m.
It will essentially turn a Q9m into a Q9c only with red trim. HA !!!
I've done this "flash" on both my personal Q9c AND Q9m and they
are both up and running FINE with absolutely NO PROBLEMS.
This Tutorial has been successfully used literally thousands of times.
(Usual "RISK" disclaimer here.)

And I've helped dozens of people get the MSU working. In the end it's basically the same thing, MSU just tends to be easier

You're entitled to your opinion, man. "easier" is rather subjective. I wouldn't argue that but everyone has just been great with their feedback as to how easy the tutorial method really is. Guess there's YOUR "easy" and then there's MY "easy." Good to have alternate "easys" yes?

MSU will work fine for updating a Q9c with q9c software. however if you want to turn a q9m into a q9c MSU would not work as you would need to flash it (q9m) with a full q9c flash file and this is the process you would need to do to get it changed to a q9c. IMHO opinion I'd rather do the flashing myself then let MSU do it seeing as all files from MSU are only upgrades and not full flash files ( ie Monster file).

-
actually they are flash files, that's why your information is erased while doing the upgrade, and why the upgrades persist after a master reset. pretty much RSD lite is like a more advanced version of MSU.
-
-
yea for sure they are flash files but not a full blown Monster flash that wipes everything out. I've never had my info erased when using MSU to update a firmware.

Yeah, yeah, BUT how many have you helped with the MSU to upgrade their Q9m.s to WM 6.1?
