my nap's screen will not shut off while locked!
it will shut off when unlocked after the timers allow it. I have battery saving mode set and I did set the power settings to shut the screen off after 10 seconds (since the locked keypad option isn't shutting down the screen anymore)
Anyone know how to fix it, short of performing a master reset?
This is irritating. I'm thinking of selling my 2 Naps to raise enough money to buy Motorola Droid GSM when it's available. I'm so tired of Windows Mobile... oh well
Any help is appreciated. Keep in mind i've been computerless for the past 3 weeks, and will continue to be so for another week.

It has happened to me on occasion. Rebooting fixed it.

Forgive my response if it seems ingrateful and rude. I'm irritated with a few things going on (unrelated to this issue, but this is certainly contributing). However, one should always assume that the easiest, most common sense approach to fix a problem has already been taken. That's a real problem with this forum when people have problems..
That being said, that approach has been taken by me at least 6 times since this started happening (which was yesterday).
It's happened on occaision before for me as well, and a reboot has always fixed it. This time it is not. It's certainly not helping my battery life having it kept on.
The GPS never working despite all the modifications, some letters being skipped as I type, the crashing of any .NET application attempts to run, i'm beginning to deeply regret my purchase of this phone. I will more than likely sell it off to someone who has more patience than I do, so I can get that DROID phone when the GSM version surfaces.
Thank you for your advice.

I can understand the frustration to a point I guess. However you do need to keep in mind the device was never completely final as far as software goes. So to think it would function perfectly like if you bought it threw a store was poor judgement. I've used test units/ pre-prodcution units many times and the types of bugs you have mentioned just go with the turf IMO.
Anywhoo is sounds to me like the device needs a hard/master reset as something is corrupted. In my experience using test devices over the years a master reset needs to be done every so often to clear things up. Specially if you install and remove things qoute often. However you sure there is not a program you have installed that is forcing the screen to stay on. reason I say this is I was going nutty ages ago with my screen. Come to find out that when I had TGPS fired up and would go to the home screen the screen would not go out. That said there was a setting in the software to keep the screen on while TGPS was active.
One thing I would try tho is pull the battery while the device is turned on, but while doing so hold the power on key down for 20 seconds after the battery is out. Then leave the battery out for a few mins and then firer it back up. Sounds odd but when I've had a glitch here or there it seems to clear it up for whatever reason. As an example the other day my pheon was working fine, next thing I noticed the radio went crazy on it and said there was no service. So I went into the wireless manager and you couldn't even turn the phone back on. I cycle the power and same thing. So I went ahead and did what I just mentioned and low and behold all was good to go after I fired it back up.
Kinda curious tho what carrier are you using the device with? what S/W is running on your Nap? On my Nap I have no issue with GPS, .net apps or anything to that nature is why I ask. I'll admit the keypad will miss a letter here or there but I've had that happen on any smartphone I've ever used. Hell the dam keyboard on my comp will miss here or there so IMO this is not something to complain about in all honesty.

It's happened to a few friends I go them for also and a reboot worked, as the same worked on my sons Nap last week. I think mine was locked up seeing as I had GPS stuff going at the same time and using Wifi so it just acted all funky. No biggie it is back and running again tho.
