    good info and semi accurate. i have a vz 9c..stock cover and battery. this one does have a covering over the speaker slits but its more of a micro mesh that allows air flow. and it's always been way loud! but i did stick a needle through it and now one slit isn't so micro meshish!! =)

    i always have found the micro mesh to be restrictive its like comparing a window screen to a blanket put in the window to use for a screen ha ha way restrictive try to completely remove it and see how it sounds without it completely or do as i said before by just removing the battery cover and see if it helps at all!!!

    My Q9c sounds WAY better with the back off. Thanks for the tip.

    Edit: Taking the micro-mesh out seems to have the same effect as taking the back off. Awesome! I can actually hear the music. Still no bass but much better. I can hear Patti Smith.
