Tethering via USB
This is my first post here and have been following other posts and this is the first time I have had an issue. I hope someone may be able to help.
I followed Cyberillusion's instructions and all went well on my desktop computer. Plug my phone into usb, it was recognized and I had Internet access. So I know that my Moto Q 9h was set properly.
I then tried to do the same on my new laptop. I installed Activesync 4.5 and rebooted and plugged my usb cable in and it tried to connect, but I received this message:
"This connection has limited or no connectivity. You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. "
I hit the 'connect' on the Moto Q and still no connection. Why it worked perfectly on my desktop and then had issues on the laptop has me at a loss.
Laptop- Dell 5400
OS Windows XP service pack 3
Phone- Moto Q 9h with Windows Mobile 6.1
Thank you in advance.

You may have to install updated Motorola USB drivers.

When this happens it's usually because I have another internet connection open. Windows seems to have a problem with multiple connections. Before plugging in phone, disconnect current internet connection and then fire up ICS.

I had read through each post before I posted. I had read ninjaap's reply to a member 12/17/2008 where he sent them to http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto...ng_drivers.asp
I went there and downloaded this before I tried to connect: Motorola 3.9.0 Driver with MotoConnect* (for 32-bit versions of Windows®)
Are there other drivers that you think should be installed? Thanks.

Another little workaround I found is to reset your ICS connection without actually disconnecting connection from your device.
Go to Network and Sharing on your PC.
Open ICS connection properties.
Click on Sharing tab.
Check all boxes in field and select a network.
Click OK.
You can always go back and turn it off. The purpose is to reset the connection.
Also check to see if Internet Protocol Version 4 properties is set to obtain IP address automatically.

Thank you I will try this next. As I am at work and my laptop is home. Can the above be found on an XP service pack 3 OS? or is it Vista. The reason I ask is, on my work computer with XP Ser Pack 3, I do not see this.

I appreciate your help. I tried this and I still get the message about limited or no internet connection. I went back to my desktop, which can connect immediately, to check the settings and I cannot figure this out. I really need it for my laptop for connection on the road when there is no wireless.
UPDATE: I uninstalled Dell's Connection Manager to see if that was the problem. There was no difference. It still will not work.
I tried the DUN connection as outlined in this post and I am able to coonect to the internet this way.
