IMAP email problems -- AT&T Moto Q9h
The error message reads:
"The following errors occurred while sending and receiving messages: An error occurred while downloading messages. Be certain that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct and then try again."
This would always happen when on 3G with full bars, and internet working fine. The account info had been put in carefully and it worked for a couple days; then it went to this error message out of the blue. At that point, it would do nothing else, and required a full hard reset to start from scratch. Then a day or two later, the whole routine starts again (repeated many cycles...).
Note that the account settings and UC Berkeley IMAP system to which I'm connecting are unchanged for several years; I'd had this set up with my old SMT-5600 and it worked perfectly for >2 yrs.!
After dozens of calls and many hours with AT&T "senior" tech support, here's their official conclusion: As far as they're concerned, I've set up everything correctly, and it "should be working perfectly." AT&T has ZERO interest or curiosity at this point in analyzing (much less solving) the problem, and it's deemed to be my own personal problem and they'll do nothing more on it.
I can't believe they market this as a serious, premium-priced business tool
-- especially since AT&T is last to market with a WM6 SP like this (due to their "very exhaustive troubleshooting, testing, R&D" etc.). Does anybody have a suggestion for getting a more effective and serious response out of them over this negligence??
Thank you.

Thank you.
I have seen that error related to alot of things on AT&T in general devices and alot of times it has to do with connection/network settings set in the browser, not email accounts.
I would first go to Opera and change the network settings from Automatic to Internet and retry.

Same error for me today
I'm getting the same trying to send through an e-mail account for which I have different incoming and outgoing mail servers.
Does Outlook Mobile not allow such a setup? If not, wouldn't it make sense? I have one account that I use only for sending, so I don't want it to waste resources checking for incoming mail every time I want to send a message.

IMAP email problems
If I'm not mistaken, Windows Live or Hotmail is also IMAP based and I had the same problem. Interestingly, I had it on a Windows Mobile based Treo 700w for the last 2 years! When I got the Q9h through AT&T, I set up my account and have the same error pop up after a couple of days. My gut tells me that it's a Microsoft issue possibly related to security or maintaining connectivity with so many users. I haven't contacted Microsoft about it, I just hit connect again and it asks me for my password. I do not have to reset the device. My two cents, for what it's worth! Good Luck!

Outlook Mobile showed up on my Q9h after syncing; I asked ATT re. whether this would be a feasible alternative, and they said it's just for use with MS Exchange accounts (i.e., not applicable to my univ. IMAP account).

I had a similar problem trying to setup email on a regular Moto Q. After much digging, I finally discovered that one solution you can try is to put in the port number that your email service uses. In my situation, I was able to receive email, but not send. My solution was to add the port number for the outgoing server like this:
Mediacom Email Outgoing Server: mail.mchsi.com
Port: 465
Since the Q doesn't have an input port setting, I found online that this is the way to enter the outgoing server information and specify the port number:
mail.mchsi.com:465
This might be a solution for you... Good luck.

So I went in and checked my Opera settings and mine was set to WAP so I changed it to Internet and unchecked Automatic. But now I can't access my homepage - which is the MediaNet homepage? How do I get to the Medianet homepage?

Chanster - is it an Exchange Server? If so, I think they have to enable IMAP, but you really shouldn't need to - if they have activesync enabled on the server, you should be able to connect.
PS: I'm not an IT techie, so I could have this wrong.
