    E-Mail / Text Messaging Program Won't Open

Hey everyone. I'm having a bad week with my Q9h. Earlier this week the charging port completely came out of the casing. Now when I try to start my messaging App (by pressing the little "envelop" button on the phone or going into start > all programs > messaging the messaging software won't open. As a result, I can't see any incoming text messages, new e-mails, so on.

This happened once before and I just totally re-installed Windows mobile, which fixed the problem but was obviously a huge pain. Does anyone know an easier fix for this?

Do you think if I called AT&T Tech support and they weren't able to help me fix it they'd give me a replacement phone over this issue and consider it covered under the warranty? That would help me out re: my first posting this week.

Anyway, any help or advice would be great. Thanks.

Give it a shot, dont mention the port, they may replace it then. If you get my drift.

Have you heard of this problem before? I'm running the 6.1 update. Again, this is the second time it happened.

Of course, I just checked the Motorola repair site and my phone went out of warranty last week. Unbelievable.

I has happened to a few before. Have you deleted anything before this.
I dont know why you are dealing with Motorola. Most att or sprint stores deal with it at the store level. I would still try to take it to a store and plead your case.

Hmmm. I just never go into the stores anymore. I always deal with AT&T over the phone. I find that the people in the stores are totally worthless and that it takes FOREVER to get any type of service.

    I just did a hard reset through E + Z + Power.

Now, of course, all my contacts are gone, and for some reason my phone will download E-MAIL from Outlook through Exchange but it will only SEND contacts, tasks, and calendar entries and not receive them, for some inexplicable reason.

I can play with the ActiveSync settings on the phone all day and then, seemingly randomly, after I've done trial and error over and over again with every setting imaginable, for some reason the phone will download the contacts/calendar/tasks perfectly out of nowhere.

It's beyond frustrating. Again, I'm really thinking about taking my big tax refund and just buying an unlocked Nokia E71. If I hadn't bought so many replacement batteries and wall chargers for my phone because the micro USB port fell out making me unable to charge the phone through a wall charger.

    Ugh.

1.800.801.1101 is the number to AT&T's warranty exchange dept, only catch is, phone cannot be damaged (like neglect, water, etc..) and you would have had to purchase your Q less than 12 months ago as ALL AT&T handsets carry a 1-yr manufacturer's warranty... might wanna give them a call & see what they have to say...

My phone went out of warranty last week, of course. The Micro USB port coming out / loosening/breaking is a known defect and there are phone repair services that offer a specific "Fix your Q9H's broken Micro USB port for only $79.99!" package. It's sad.

There is a list of "known physical defects" for every phone AT&T sells, and if the physical defect you experienced is not on that list, Motorola / AT&T won't cover it. If it's an "internal" problem with the software or the circuit board, then they will cover it (i.e., "my screen goes blank when I hit the call button").

I just went ahead and got an unlocked Nokia E71 off amazon for $320. Impeccable reviews, "Excellent" from CNET, rock-solid build like the Q9h but it has VoIP, Wi-Fi, and GPS that ACTUALLY works. Not to mention the fact that Nokia backs up its warranty.

The Q9h is a good phone, I've just had too bad of an experience to warrant ever buying another Q9h or its progeny as Motorola Smart Phones.

sorry to hear about your lack of luck. Been hearing Moto's scrapping the Q after the 9h anyway... Enjoy the Nokia!
