Thanks Vermsky.
i believe he means the source IS verizon

Thanks Vermsky.
There's no question about the legitimacy of the file. Once they make an easier update (same thing they did with q global btw) it will be released for everyone on motorola's website. This is just a sneak peak. Not a beta version or anything. This is the official release. Once Motorola Software Updater is run, it will get download the exact same file to your PC and flash your phone automatically.

This can be called the "advanced" or "manual" version of motorola software update. Flashing your phone via rsd lite with an upgrade file.

Thanks for the clarification- now that you've cleared that up... how the f- do I crank this thing on my phone? Should I just search for how to flash your phone using RSD lite?

Craig
It's verizon only. Alltel has had an update since 7/29/08.

If your alltel q9c is black download this https://rsddownload.motorola.com/dow...FILE_01.sbf.gz

If it's lime green, download this https://rsddownload.motorola.com/dow...FILE_01.sbf.gz

Those are the latest files for alltel. Hope it helps.

Use winrar, or whatever to unpack the gz file. You should be left with a file that has an sbf extension. Power up your phone, open RSD lite and connect your phone to your PC. RSD lite should show some info after installing the drivers. From there, just click on start, have a beer and jump for joy when it's done.

Default Nice...

My request to people who have completed the flash to VZW 6.1: Please post any instability, bugs, or issues. That will determine if I'm going to jump on the bleeding edge of this update.

Also, if people can report on the major differences between 6.0 and 6.1, that would be helpful. Its been discussed before, but maybe we should revisit the reasons to upgrade, for those of us Verizoners who avoided the earlier 6.1 talk.
