Default Vibrating SMS notification during call

Hello All! My apologies in advance but I searched for an hour and could not find an existing thread with the answer...

I have a motorola q9c and am getting use to the differences from my old "not so smart"phone (motorola rokr). On my old phone when you were on a call and a txt etc. came in, it sounded a single beep similar to call waiting. on this phone it vibrates for a few seconds which is annoying to the other party and myself. Can I change this? I dont see any settings in profiles or anywhere else I have looked that are dependent on whether you are on a call vs not. I would like it to vibrate and ring when the phone is not in use (already successful here) but either beep once or do nothing when I am on a call. How do I make this happen???

btw I am using inboxtones which may or may not be affecting this situation however I dont think it is because this was happening before I loaded it.

Thanks for any and all solutions!!!

well I'm not sure if this will change the in-call response but you can always go Start>All Programs>Settings>Sounds and change the texting alert.. if it;s on vibrate just change it to a sound that won't bug you to death. Mine is on Alert-Echo.

Hope That helps a little =]

OK go to profiles then in to edit (lower right of the screen) and then you can change it to what ever you want. this is to change the vibrate and ring setting.

Default Clearer question on vibrating sms

Thanks! It seems like you are describing how to change the overall sound settings. I know how to change ring/vibe settings as you both suggested. My issue is I DONT want to turn off vibrate in general. ONLY when I am on a phone call.

most simply I want....

if phone in my pocket --> notifiication = vibe or ring and vibe.
if talking to someone on the phone -->notification = a single beep or no notification but definitely NO vibe

Is THIS possible??? I HAVE to have my phone on vibrate but when you are on a 5 min call and get 5 or 6 txt/email notifications where it vibes for 3 seconds it gets old. It obviously knows not to play the ringtone associated with the notification but it still vibrates. Every "notsmart" phone I have owned since texting has come into play has done this automatically which seems to make sense to me. I would like to do this with my Q9C.

Thanks Again!!!
