Default Problem with light sensor/backlight!

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if any one have problem with their light sensor for their backlight (the keyboard light)? I enable the the smartbacklight function under power management, but the backlight doesn't come on when I'm in a dark room.

And yes, I already search the forum and haven't found the answer.

Thanks to all who can help.

I noticed that the light sensor often stops working when using google maps or live search; it will start working again after exiting these 2 programs; I wonder if there is a conflict between the navigation programs and the light sensor driver ...

Edit: I think I figure out my problem with the sensor and backlight. I think when I installed candlelight, it override the sensor and screw it up. I uninstall it but it already made changes to the Q9c. So I had to the master reset. The sensor is working perfectly for me now. So from my experience I wouldn't use candle light.

weird , i was going to post a subject almost the same. I uninstalled candlelight, went in a dark room and the light still did not come on. I turned off the smartback light and now the keyboard comes on. Question is why when turned on does the keyboard light not come on in the dark ???

The sensor doesn't work even after you uninstall candlelight because candlelight already made changes to the registry.

I don't know how to go in to change the registry to change back to the default mode.

So, I did the Master Reset, which is fine by me because I could always sync my phone again and download the programs again.

Master Reset is the only way I did to get the sensor to work properly again.

So, to anyone who want to use the sensor/smartbacklight, DO NOT use Candlelight.

Does anyone know the settings that candlelight uses? I already installed it and want to remove it and fix the backlight issue. I don't want to hard reset to fix this.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I already uninstalled the program using the remove programs feature.

Now, in a dark room the back light for the keyboard doesn't come on. I tried disabling the smart back light then re-enabling it but it didn't make a difference. With the smart back light disabled the keyboard lights came on no problem. Then I enabled the smart back light and held the mail button to turn off the screen and then turned it back on and the keyboard was dark in a completely dark room.

What changes does candlelight make to the registry that may be still lingering?

I did some research and it looks like candlelight toggles this key:

"HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State \On\bkl1:" = "2" (dword)

Take note that if you set this value to anything other than 1 (normal) or 2 (low power) you will most likely have to hard reset to get your display working again.

I changed my registry back to "1" and it fixed my back light issue. It seems I uninstalled candlelight with it already set to "2". I did a few tests and it works fine now. You can use Resco Registry editor to make the change and it is free to try the program.
