Is the GPS NMEA
Hey, I was wondering about the capabilities of the GPS in the Q9c. I already have a copy of TomTom and was wondering if I got the Q9c could I use that with TomTom instead of using a bluetooth receiver or does the gps only work with google maps and live search?

There was someone here trying to get it to work with other programs but was not entirely successful. The GPS in the Q9c should work with any program that uses the GPS Intermediate Driver (Windows Live Search, Google Maps, Sprint Navigation), but unless there is some modification, I don't think it would work with other GPS apps which can only access the GPS via a COM port (although I can't verify this from personal experience).

For Windows Live Search, you have to go into your settings in the program to set the GPS to use the Intermediate Driver. Then you can use your GPS position as a starting point and/or have the program Center on GPS to track you through routed directions.

Have you gotten this to work yet?
I read this post on the msdn blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/...07/620387.aspx
It seems to suggest that the GPS Intermediate Driver opens up virtual com ports so maybe you would be able to get this to work with TomTom?
I also googled some more and found that the HP Phone that was one of the first ones to offer aGPS included TomTom software and talked to it via the GPS Intermediate Driver. It was on Pocket PC instead of Smartphone, but TomTom could work.
I would really like to know if anyone can get TomTom to work as I think I would upgrade in that situation. Thanks.

I guess you can try the following instruction from tomtom's site for HP iPAQ to see if it works.
To select the your HP iPAQ 6510 or 6515's internal GPS receiver using Navigator 6, see following instructions:
1. Open the File Explorer and browse to the folder Navigator.
2. Delete the file navigator (be sure not to delete the file TomTom Navigator or you will need to reinstall the application).
3. Start TomTom NAVIGATOR 6.
4. When prompted, select Other NMEA GPS receiver.
5. Set the GPS baud rate to 4800.
6. Select Internal AGPS NMEA.

Maybe this could possibly help
So it appears that in Windows Mobile 6 it is possible to access the intermediate GPS driver via the control panel only if you made a modification to your device's registry settings. According to TomTom
http://www.tomtom.com/support/produc...age=4&FID=6350
You can use the intermediate driver application in the control panel to specify the COM port that you want your internal GPS device to use, then use this COM port in the TomTom software.
I haven't received my Q9c yet, so I have not had the opportunity to see if this works, but if it does, could you please let me know?

Read through the instructions at the link above, but I cannot make the change suggested because there is no "GPS" entry under HKLM/Control Panel. I am using Resco's Registry Editor.
