Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster.

My Sprint Q9c (on a SERO plan if that matters) slows to a crawl (as in just about freezes) when I open a text message. I keep very few texts so that's not the problem. If I go into task manager and stop messaging (a process which takes 3-5 minutes because of the slowdown) then everything goes back to normal.

I did a master reset once and it was fixed, but the problem came back in a month.

Thanks for any help.

I finally got USCC to honor the mailer they sent out at Thanksgiving. They were out of the TP2 when I called and refused honor the "free" offer since they were out. I've been calling every couple of weeks bitching about it, and I finally got connected with someone who had the willingness to honor the offer.

So, I suppose I better figure out how to use this puppy.

Am I safe in assuming that since it's still a Windows phone, my ActiveSync will work like it did with my Q? If my contacts have been synced from my phone to my PC prior to activating the TP2, the info should flow to the TP2 when I hook it up to my PC?

And thanks to everybody who helps on this forum. It's good to have the info out there without the attitudes.

Originally installed Palringo 2.0. Liked the avatars. Able to install to external storage.

Installed 2.1.1 - gone are the avatars unless you have Premium. Able to install to external storage.

Installed 2.2 - gone are the avatars unless you have Premium. Not able to install to external storage.

Uninstalled 2.2 and now back to 2.0. I did notice that it was trying to download the upgrade but couldn't find anywhere that allow you to configure this (so I don't have to upgrade to the newest).

edit: Just checked it again and I'm actually on 1.4.2.

Getting a Q9m in 2010 to avoid mandatory data and gain candy bar QWERTY and Bluetooth

Switched to Verizon for their Nationwide plus Canada, but missing my jailbroken iPhone. It looks like the Q9m is something I can handle, a candy bar...

Switched to Verizon for their Nationwide plus Canada, but missing my jailbroken iPhone. It looks like the Q9m is something I can handle, a candy bar form factor with a QWERTY keyboard and Bluetooth. My other big requirement is that it doesn't require a mandatory data plan. To gain Wi-Fi, I can get a Spectec SDW-825. I thought I read about volume problems, anyone care to enlighten me please?

From what I have researched, I should update the Q9m to 6.1. SPB Mobile Shell seems a bit spendy at $30 (and buggy from one post), but the alternatives are a bit confusing for a new WM user who is a GUI whore. Opera Mobile 10 seems to be the best browser choice. I can download and install Google Mobile App, but I can't figure out if installing Google Maps for mobile is already part of the general Google Mobile App. For Java, I believe I need to download jBed Rose. Looks like Extreme Text is the favored texting application. I'm not sure if I can use TCPMP or not with 6.1. Skype dropped support for Windows Mobile, but I found the archive is still floating around out there.

I once had a problem where my phone wouldn't work in TBayTel's region, so I want the latest and greatest PRL. From what little I know, Verizon doesn't update the PRL for every phone, am I right? Is there a means to manually update the PRL file?

With regards to data and Verizon, will I get a hassle from clueless CSRs about activating a grandfathered smartphone? I've placed every block on the account to avoid accidental data charges. I believe, but I need to confirm, that SMS text messages within Canada are part (no extra cost) of whatever additional / add-on text messaging bundle I have associated with the Nationwide plus Canada plan.

There are increasing reports of smartphones runnning Windows mobile 6.1 being unable to use dial up networking via a USB cable to a computer running Windows 7, when the same functionality worked without problem under Vista and earlier OS.

I am trying to get a handle on how many people are affected and what devices are affected to try to put more pressure on Microsoft to address the issue which, so far as I can glean, suggests a defective implementation of RNDIS in Windows 7.

If you have conection dropout problems trying to use dial-up networking to a computer with your cell phone please reply giving details of your phone model, the phone OS and the model and OS of the computer to which you are tethering.

I have tried searching, and haven't had a whole lot of luck.

Had my TP2 for about a week, and have updated it to WM 6.5.

1. How do I disable the SMS Text sent notification? I have installed Advanced Config, and have also tried changing it in the registry, with no luck...any ideas?

2. When on the home screen, the bottom bar with Home/Messages/Mail/Music etc, how do I get the Messages or Mail to go straight to the inbox, and not show just the one text or one email on the initial page? Am I clear on explaining that?

3. When I click on Phone on the bottom left, is there a way to make searching for contacts easier/faster? When I pull up the Contacts, is there a way to already have the search bar there, instead of having to hit the Magnifying Glass every time?

4. How do I get my phone to use the on screen keyboard when I flip it landscape? When I turn it, the screen stays up and down, unless I open the keyboard, which is the only time I have gotten the phones screen to rotate with the phones position.

If anyone has any answers I would appreciate it!

Thanks
Matt
