Default Tell when roaming in extra-charge area?

The current smartchoice plans allegedly have nationwide coverage, but there are a few spots on the coverage map indicated as "roaming" areas where you pay extra per minute. When I'm using my q9c outside of home coverage (but still within the included nationwide coverage) I get the triangle and the heading indicates "roaming service." Anybody know what the phone says/how to tell when the phone is roaming in an "extra-charge" area? How is data usage treated in these areas?

Thanks,

John

I asked this question while talking with tech support. I was told that as long as the triangle is flashing you are not roaming. As for charges or their amount I do not know.So as I understand it as long as its flashing you are good if its solid then your are roaming.hope this helps

Thanks -- I hope tech support was wrong. I have been in three dfferent cities since getting the phone and each time the triangle has been solid, even though each of those cities has alltel coverage.

I work outside my home area about 50% of the time I'm using my Q, I have never had a roaming charge on my smartchoice plan. Check your plan information on your "My Account" website and it will tell you the amount for roaming charges. This has been my experience and yours may be different.
