Possibly reacting to vocal negativity from the developer community, Microsoft has pushed a major dev tool live, finally allowing creators to see just how many downloads their apps are getting. The information is available from Microsoft’s App-Hub website, and shows download and sale data.
Update: Farseer Games has published their numbers from Krashlander, an app that sits at #32 among paid apps.
Initial indications were that this information wouldn’t be available until a later date, most likely February, but Microsoft appears to have taken the step of releasing this tool early. As far as we’re aware, developer payments are still not expected until next year, however if Microsoft decides to start that early too, you can bet there will be some very happy coders.
