Confirmed: Microsoft To Introduce Windows Mobile 7 On Monday

While it’s not a big suprise, it’s now official. The Wall Street Journal confirms that Microsoft will use Mobile World Congress in Barcelona as the stage to introduce their new operating system, Windows Mobile 7. Rumors have the new UI (user interface) resembling the Zune HD. The new interface, codenamed Metro, will reportedly feature a revamp of the ‘Start’ menu. Earlier this week, rumored details of Windows Mobile 7 were leaked. Come Monday, we’ll be able to get our scorecards out to see how it matches up to the real deal.

As for when it might ship and on what devices. Some say it could hit new devices by September. For devices to be successful in the critical fourth quarter, they almost need to be released by September, so they can pick up speed by the time the holiday shopping season hits. Of course, the field is competitive, so Microsoft needs to bring the wow factor on Monday. We ask you our readers, what are* you expectations for Monday?
