All 89,000 Microsoft Employees To Get WP7 Phones

A rumor that we first heard back in July has been confirmed, Microsoft will be giving WP7 phones to 89,000 employees, and the company will be paying for the plans, too.

“Every Microsoft employee will be getting a Windows Phone 7 phone,” said Guy Gilbert, a Windows Phone executive.
When this story first reared its head, the rumor was that by handing these out, Microsoft was expecting their employees to spend time programming for the device, or at least proselytizing to unbelievers. We’ll wait and see if this is still going to be the plan.
I wonder which handset they’ll get, if they’ll be using this as a way to offload some of the less popular handsets.

I’m thinking between the devs at PNC and the employees, there’s a good chance there will be a few no-contract phones on eBay.
